SLEEVE

  1. In our line of work, a sleeve is a tube (3 inches in diameter) that is placed BELOW the pavers, to connect 2 areas (of grass or dirt).  This tube can be used in the future as a passage for irrigation pipes, electric wiring, etc., so that the pavers will not need to be removed and reinstalled.
  2. A tubular piece fitting over a rod or the like. We install sleeves made of PVC pipe that are 3 inches in diameter beneath the pavers in order to accommodate water or other lines that need to go beneath the driveways so as to avoid the necessity of the homeowner having to take up the paving stones.
  3. Pipe installed under the concrete driveway or sidewalk, and that will be used later to run sprinkler pipe or low voltage wire.

EXAMPLE:

You must always make sure you have enough sleeves installed when re-doing a driveway.
