GRADING

The act of altering the ground surface to a desired grade by cutting, filling, leveling, and/or smoothing.  To reduce a ground surface to a level (horizontal surface) or to a practicable degree of inclination. Grading is typically done to move or direct water in a desired direction (usually away from structures.)

Also see ROUGH GRADING.

The grading was done per the Engineer’s specs.
