ELEVATION VIEW

When architects design buildings, they have to do two-dimensional drawings to show what the building will look like from each side and from the top. The view from the top is called a plan. The views from the front and sides are called elevations.  Also see PLAN VIEW.

EXAMPLE:

The foreman showed his crew the elevation view of the barbecue they were going to build, so they would get a clear idea of the final result.
