1.A diaphragm valve is a valve with two or more ports — a diaphragm, and a “seat” in which the diaphragm closes the valve on. The diaphragm valve is used as a shut-off valve in industrial, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical industries.
Note: A diaphragm, in this usage, is a thin sheet of material forming a partition.
2.A globe or angle pattern valve which uses a diaphragm to control the flow of water through the valve.
EXAMPLE:
Diaphragm valves can be used to start and stop the flow of fluids with a single switch.
