HOME RUN (Electrical)

The electrical cable that carries power from the main circuit breaker panel to the first electrical box, plug, or switch in the circuit

EXAMPLE: There is a wire that runs for the electrical box (splitter) to each outlet. this is a home run. If it were wired in series it would go from the electrical box to the first fixture then the the second and the third and terminate at the forth. The reason for a home run is each outlet is independent of the other. When in series if there is a surge or failure in the first outlet the others will shut down.
