MARKETING

The conceiving and packaging and the moving of a specific product into public hands.  It means to prepare and take to and place on the market in such a way as to obtain maximum potential and recompense.  (Marketing Series 2 – MARKETING, PROMOTION AND DISSEMINATION DEFINED)

The PURPOSE of marketing is to CREATE WANT and to SELL SOMETHING. (Marketing Series 3 – MARKETING HAT)

Conventional marketing is based on selling when it should be based on branding.  Marketing is not selling.  Marekting is building a brand in the mind of the prospect.  If you can build a powerful brand, you will have a powerful marketing program.  If you can’t, then all the advertising, fancy packaging, sales promotion, web designs, and public relations in the world won’t help you achieve your objective. (Al Ries – The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding)

Marketing includes all actions from before the beginning of the production right on through to its use by the customer and its word-of-mouth promotion by the public.  Your first step is you’ve got to have a product to market that will market.  And you have to groom that product up so you can market it.  (Marketing Series 8 – MORE ON MARKETING BASICS)

MARKETING SERIES 3 : Policy written by L. Ron Hubbard which is titled: MARKETING HAT.  It outlines what marketing is and the keynotes of any marketing action.
