CHECK VALVE

Suggest a term
  1. A valve that is closed by the pressure of a fluid so that the fluid does not flow back in the direction it came from.
  2. A valve which allows water to flow in one direction only. Check valves are used to prevent low head drainage.

EXAMPLE:

Because of the steep slope in the lawn area, the landscaper installed a check valve in the irrigation system to prevent water leakage and waste.
