- Caissons or piles are reinforced concrete structures put deep inside the earth to reinforce a pool or structure.
- A hole drilled into the earth and typically embedded into bedrock or “undisturbed earth”. An engineer specifies diameter, spacing required and depth of hole and caisson. The structural support for a type of foundation wall, porch, patio, or other structure. Steel reinforcing bars or metal beams are inserted into and run the full length of the hole and concrete is poured into the caisson hole.
