The relationship between two amounts or numbers, showing the number of times one value contains or is contained within the other.
EXAMPLE:
The ratio of women to men in that company is 4:1 (four to one).
This means that in the company there are four times as many women as men. Hence it could be that there are 4 women and 1 man. Or 8 women and 2 men. Or 60 women and 15 men, etc.
